Once inside the wall and looking around, we get a good idea of what's inside there to prevent using a recessed medicine cabinet.
As you can see here, there is a vent pipe that comes up at about a 45 degree angle. It severely limits the lower right hand corner of where a medicine cabinet can go, and so based one the center line of everything, this sets with width of what can be installed.
