Ugh, those awful wire frame shower caddy condiment racks - holding shampoo bottles, soap, razors, a can o beer. You know, those white vinyl coated wire frame things that are designed to dangle from the shower head, house all of your different bathroom shower condiments.
If you don't know the pain then you've never had one of these things. Your stuff is constantly falling off or slipping between the wires. Or how's about this one - you buy a new bottle of shampoo and the weight of the full bottle makes the stupid rack leans over - causing everything else to slide off too. Ugh! Ridiculous.
Part of this master bathroom remodeling project is going to solve that problem permanently, for good - recessed shampoo boxes come to the rescue. This little feature brings great utility and leaves a very clean, integrated look to the entire installation of the shower stall.
There are at least three different ways of incorporating a recessed shampoo box into your bathroom shower remodeling project:
1. Pre-made aluminum boxes are available specifically for this purpose. This item comes in sizes to fit standard wall stud patterns and wall depth. They come pre-coated 're coated on the inside to easily accommodate mortar and tile adhesives and they simply nail into place ready for tile.
2. Then there are some finished products that do not need tiling - they are ready to be mortared directly into your bathroom shower tiling project. That might sound great, but the downside is that you are very limited in the finishes styles colors and coatings available.
If one of these ready made shampoo boxes matches your remodeling decor needs, then you've struck a big vein of good luck - that's great.
These finished recessed shampoo bottle holders can also incorporate additional features like a separate soap dish partition at no additional cost. These features offer a terrific opportunity to incorporate elegant touches that set your bathroom apart for very little expense.
3. Finally, there's the custom route. If a pre-fab aluminum box isn't available in a size to suit your constraints, you can always have one framed in to your exact measurements.
Construction plans for this solution would call for framing in the area with 2x4 lumber materials, and my be (read probably) subject to approval by city inspectors if the permit process is being observed.
Space is a premium, and the custom route can solve spacial problems brought on by those ever changing municipal code requirements, that preclude using off-the-shelf solutions in an older pre-code home.
