A closeup of the granite soap shelf gives a good idea of the colors and grain of this piece. No doubt the bother and grief required to come to this point have been worth it and the budget remains intact.
What's missing here is some grout to seal the small gap between the shelf and the wall.
How this soap shelf actually attaches to the walls is unknown for sure. The contractor claimed that biscuits similar to wood working biscuits were used to positively hold the shelf in place. Were biscuits slots cut into the granite and matching into the tile? I do not know. But for now, the shelf is solid in place.
